Pizza Rolls
Pizza is the ultimate comfort food. And not as hard to make as you would think. As an added bonus, pizza rolls come all nicely portioned and are amazing hot or cold, for a whole meal, or just for a snack.
Ingredients
Dough
4 cups flour.
1 and 1/3 cup water.
2/3 cup olive oil.
1 teaspoon salt.
2 teaspoon baking powder.
Pizza toppings
Tomato based pasta sauce, or Marinara sauce.
Cooked bacon, cut into cubes.
Pineapple pieces.
Mozzarella Cheese.
Melted butter.
Method
Preheat your oven to 190 degrees C.
To make the dough, place all the ingredients in a bowl, and mix it for 15 minutes. This is much easier with a bread maker, on the knead cycle, or in a stand mixer, with the dough hook. If you don’t have either of those devices, bring the ingredients together with a wooden spoon, and then take it out the bowl and knead on a lightly floured counter top. There is no yeast in this recipe, so it does not have to rise.
Once the dough is ready, split it into two portions. Take one portion, and roll it out with a rolling pin on a lightly floured counter, into a large rectangle. Cover the rectangle in a thin layer of pasta sauce, and then a layer of cheese. Distribute half of the bacon and pineapple evenly over the cheese.
Pulling gently on one long side of the dough, roll the whole thing into a big tube. Melt some butter in the microwave, and brush it onto the visible dough. Cut 2 cm rounds, and lie them flat on a greased baking tray. Sprinkle more cheese on the top of the rounds, and bake for 15 minutes.
Repeat with the remaining half of the dough.
Enjoy!
